You can help lower your risk of getting lung cancer in the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0 Not Smoking\/ Quitting Smoking<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 Avoid second hand smoke<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Lower exposure to workplace risk factors<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 Diet rich in fruits and vegetables<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 Regular physical activity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>When should you consult a doctor?<\/h2>\n<p>Lung cancer typically does not cause specific signs and symptoms in its initial stages. The patients may just have general symptoms of not feeling well. In most people with lung cancer, the symptoms arise only when the disease is advanced. The common symptoms include:<\/p>\n<p>1. Persistent cough that gets worse despite usual treatment.<\/p>\n<p>2. Shortness of breath<\/p>\n<p>3. Coughing up phlegm (sputum) with traces of blood in it<\/p>\n<p>4. Coughing up frank blood<\/p>\n<p>5. Wheezing<\/p>\n<p>6. An ache or pain in the chest or shoulder<\/p>\n<p>7. Unexplained weight loss<\/p>\n<p>8. Feeling of extreme tiredness<\/p>\n<p>9.
